Sweet Sixteen

Today was Pamela's birthday, her "Sweet Sixteen".  Her mom and dad gave her a party, and her mom had asked me to bake her birthday cake.  She wanted something layered, with roses and pink and black.  This is what I came up with.  I thought it turned out rather nice, and everyone seemed to like it.  This was my first time using fondant, and I'm hooked.  It was also the first big layered cake I had done for anyone besides just us.  What do you think?

Pam and her cake.

Happy Birthday, Pam, we love you!!

Wow!! I'm so impressed!!! and to think you flunked the class!!!!!HaHa!!!!
The cake looks great. Did you make your own fondant? What icing did you use? Is the whole cake iced in fondant or just the decor? It's beautiful!!!

Thanks Debbie. It's amazing what you can do when you flunked a class (if only the way your sister tells it)! I cut the hearts out of the packaged fondant and it is just the decorations. I iced the rest in buttercream. The roses I bought at Sugarbakers, and the 16 is fondant covered cakeboard. I got another order for a shower cake at the birthday party!
